Suspended Animation adheres to a strict leave-no-trace regimen. Everything brought in will be recycled, evaporated, burned in the communal fire pits, or brought back out.
Our approach is to first prevent, then correct MOOP. Camp members will be discouraged from bringing items that cause MOOP in the first place, including papers, costume materials, schwag, gear, materials, food packaging, glass containers, and personal hygiene products. Construction materials will be prepared pre-playa to reduce scrap such as metal shavings or saw dust.
Our structures are constructed from materials that have proven themselves MOOP-friendly. Our choice of shade cloth is particularly hardy and when damaged does not produce stray material. The structural rigging rope is marine quality and does not fray. We will use rubber flooring material in our performance structure to catch MOOP as well as non-linting carpet in other public areas. Both our public performance space and residential areas are fully enclosed to prevent blow-away MOOP.
Graywater from the kitchen, shower, or other runoff will be collected in an evaporation tray and run through a powered evaporation device. The evaporation materials and any remaining liquid will be packed out.
We will have an assigned trash and recycling person to organize and ensure proper disposal and removal of items. We also have an assigned deMOOPing coordinator to monitor MOOP during the week, organize and delegate deMOOPing throughout the week, and run an aggressive camp cleanup Sunday prior to sundown. We will use a magnetic broom to collect any loose metal shavings produced during the week. A final grid will be walked extending 10' beyond our camp borders Monday morning directly before departure.
